Zenith Africa, founded by Akhona Mdawe, was born out of concern during the 2020 lockdowns, when access to basic essentials was limited. That question lit a fire.
What began as an attempt to create biodegradable pads from banana fibre waste eventually evolved into something more impactful. A solution that is not only sustainable but restores dignity and choice.
We exists because no one should have to struggle through their period.
Co-founded by youth development leaders Viwe Gilbert Bonga and Athenkosi Excellence Mashicila, Tshilidzi Project is a nonprofit that works in under-resourced schools across Cape Town, especially in areas like Philippi. Tshilidzi Project currently serves over 200 Grade 8 and 9 learners, offering tutoring in core subjects (English, Maths, Science, Life Orientation), debate and public speaking training, and mentorship for life and career readiness.
